2024 AAFCA TV Honors Winners List: Ayo Edebiri, Wendell Pierce

The African American Movie Critics Affiliation (AAFCA) has introduced the winners of this 12 months’s AAFCA TV Honors, which acknowledges achievements in TV and streaming.

Black Twitter: A Individuals’s Historical past gained the perfect documentary prize, whereas greatest ensemble went to Masters of the Air and greatest restricted sequence/particular was awarded to Genius: MLK/X. The Bear‘s Ayo Edebiri was honored with the perfect TV performing (feminine) prize, whereas Elsbeth‘s Wendell Pierce gained the male award. The Bear gained greatest writing.

The AAFCA additionally introduced its particular achievement award honorees, which embody American actor Glynn Turman (Legacy Award), comic and actress Michelle Buteau (Trailblazing Award), TV producer and author Nkechi Okoro Carroll (Salute to Excellence Award), Starz’s Energy Universe (Impression Award) and the streaming service TUBI (Ally Award).

Winners shall be celebrated Aug. 2 on the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Resort in Los Angeles. The honors had been first launched in 2019 celebrating “outstanding achievements in TV and streaming, with a special focus on entertainment representing the Black diaspora.”

“The 2024 AAFCA TV Honors class is a powerful testament to the exceptional range of Black talent in television today,” says AAFCA president and co-founder Gil Robertson. “From the legendary Glynn Turman, whose six-decade career continues to inspire, to rising stars and innovative storytellers, this group exemplifies excellence across the board. We’re honored to recognize their achievements and celebrate their commitment to pushing the boundaries of storytelling. They make us all better.”
